Public & Media Advisory: Surface Transportation Board Reschedules, from April 16 to April 22, Public Hearing on Challenges to Rail Rates in Small Cases

Surface Transportation Board (Board) Chairman Roger Nober today announced that the Board has rescheduled the public hearing, originally to have taken place on Wednesday, April 16, 2003, to provide a forum for the expression of views by interested persons concerning the Board's processing of railroad rate challenges in small cases that are not suitable for handling under the Board's constrained market pricing procedures.

Instead of beginning on 10:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday April 16, as originally scheduled (see Surface Transportation Board "News" release No. 03-14 issued March 27, 2003), the hearing in the case entitled Rail Rate Challenges in Small Cases, STB Ex Parte 646, will now begin at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 22.

Persons or parties wishing to speak at the hearing should file with the Board a written Notice of Intent to Participate, and should indicate a requested time allotment, as soon as possible but no later than Friday, April 11. Each speaker should also file with the Board a copy of his testimony by Wednesday, April 16.

As originally announced, the hearing will be held in Room 760, on the 7th Floor at the agency's headquarters in the Mercury Building, 1925 K Street, N.W. (on the northeast corner of the intersection of 20th and K Sts.), Washington, D.C. Forthcoming official public notices and Board news releases will provide a hearing agenda and attendance instructions and will advise of other related matters.
