Learn about the STB, submit and access filings, review agency decisions, view rail transportation data, and get assistance with rail-related issues. Whether you're a rail carrier, shipper, practitioner, or other member of the American public, you can engage with and stay informed about developments in freight rail and surface transportation.
Find instructions about how to file with the Board. This includes instructions for submitting formal and informal filings, recordations, FOIA requests, water carrier annual certifications, environmental comments, and more.
Railroads, shippers, practitioners, and members of the public may contact Rail Customer and Public Assistance for informal assistance with railroad-shipper disputes and questions about matters that the Board regulates.
The Board provides the public with economic data, railroad service data, and other materials the agency collects pursuant to its statutory responsibilities including the Uniform Rail Costing System (URCS), the agency's general costing system.
