The Surface Transportation Board’s Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) today issued a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed construction and operation of a new rail line in Tooele County, Utah, by Savage Tooele Railroad Company.  The Draft EA analyzes the potential environmental and historic impacts of approximately 11 miles of new rail line that would re-establish a former branch line’s connection to the Union Pacific Railroad’s Shafter Subdivision at Burmester, Utah, and the Lakeview Business Park in Grantsville, Utah.

OEA invites stakeholders and interested parties to review and submit comments on all aspects of the Draft EA.  Comments are due by October 30, 2023.
