SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD

Surface Transportation Board Chairman Martin J. Oberman announced today that he will retire from the Board on May 10, 2024. He informed President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. of his plans by letter earlier today.

Chairman Oberman was designated Chairman of the STB by President Biden on January 21, 2021, and was sworn in as a Board member on January 22, 2019.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the United States as Board member and Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board,” said Chairman Oberman. “I leave government service with the greatest respect for the work of the Board and for the agency staff, who have an unrelenting commitment to public service.”
