SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD

Surface Transportation Board Chairman Marty Oberman announced today that he has chosen Ellen Erichsen to serve as his chief of staff.   Ms. Erichsen has served as Mr. Oberman’s attorney-advisor for the last two years.  In her new role, Ms. Erichsen will oversee many of the managerial functions and day-to-day operations of the Board.

“Ms. Erichsen has proven to be a capable and reliable leader throughout her STB career,” said Chairman Oberman.  “She will have a lead role in policy matters and serve as a major resource in ensuring our agency is successful in its mission.”

Ms. Erichsen joined the Board in 2014 as a staff attorney in the Office of Proceedings.  Prior to working at the STB, she was an attorney in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of the Chief Counsel, which included a detail with the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation.

Ms. Erichsen holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs and a Juris Doctor from American University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Calvin College.
