SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD

Chairman Martin J. Oberman and Board Member Michelle A. Schultz traveled to important segments of the nation’s rail network last week.  Their travel included a tour of Union Pacific Railroad’s Harriman Dispatching Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and a meeting with Union Pacific Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Lance Fritz, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Kenny Rocker, and Vice President, External Relations, Printz Bolin.  Chairman Oberman and Board Member Schultz also observed an inspection on the Iowa Interstate Railroad (IAIS), which began at IAIS’ intermodal facility in Council Bluffs and ended at the IAIS locomotive shop in South Amana.  The inspection involved visits to several IAIS-served businesses along the route, which manifested the railroad’s efforts to promote and provide quality rail service to its shortline customers.
